In architecture studio 1, students supposed to reimagine iranian old and traditional architecture and find new meanings, which can be defined easily to society. There are too many sufferance of our historical architecture, but in this studio, instructors tried to emphasis on the word ENTRANCE. In iran, there are a group of astonishing buildings in a city called Esfehan. One of these buildings is ALE GHAPOO, which means a great door. Students had to clarify this meaning and look for homogeneous samples in contemporary architecture. The main aspect of this studio was to represent that each historical expression has a fashioned equivalent meaning and they are not vanished from our culture. The project site was located in the most crowded intersection in Tehran. The land was totally deconstructed and our target was to creat a cultural center in this site which can mention the ancient word ALE GHAPOO for people.
Although the land was vacant at the time, but there was there was an extension plan for the region that we had to consider into our dsign process. Underpasses, Small shopping areas, subway pedestrian exits and old school near the site that is tagged as a national treasure. As a conclusion, we designed a complex y emphasizing on traditional idioms.
