Vale das Sobreiras is a hill in Baixo Alentejo, in the vicinity of Grândola. The landscape is characterized by a steep topography covered with cork oaks and holm oaks.
Access to the plot is via its northwest corner where there is a traditional building situated on the highest elevation of the land. This house, with thick adobe walls painted white and with small openings to the east, was restored and kept in its original form using its divisions as bedrooms; the west side, with no openings for climatic reasons, includes a distribution corridor.
To distinguish this traditional house from Alentejo in relation to the building built to the south, a small courtyard that surrounds the only fig tree in the location was created. A longitudinal gallery connects the two parts of the house. The living room, kitchen and guest rooms are located in the new part and communicate through large windows with the land to the east. The roof on the terrace allows you to see the distant landscape.
At the border area of the house there is a meadow where there is a biological swimming pool. From here there is a paved path that branches off to the football pitch and the threshing floor, a circular area where the grain is treated. The remaining area of the hill contains the cork oak plantation.
