The design respects the unique character of the island, blending contemporary architectural language with local idiom. Sustainable strategies such as natural ventilation and shaded outdoor spaces enhance comfort, while the use of local materials connects the home with its ambiance.
This project presents a two-level residence nestled in the heart of the traditional village of Sikinos on Sikinos Island. The structure deploys as a single volume arranged over two levels, connected by an external staircase that seamlessly integrates indoor and outdoor living.
The volume of the residence balances solidity and lightness through material contrasts: a whitewashed stone base grounds the design, while the upper volume’s smooth plaster finish conveys subtle elegance.
The ground floor embraces the daily living spaces—living room, kitchen, and dining area—opening directly onto a shaded courtyard designed for outdoor living. The private quarters unfold on the upper floor, featuring a bedroom and bathroom that open onto a pergola-shaded terrace with views towards the surrounding landscape.
