The project asked for the construction of the museum of Vacaresti Monastery, a remarkable architectural unit dating from 1716, built in brancovenesc style, which was tragically demolished in 1986 during the communist regime. The site for the museum is on the grounds of the Mogosoaia Palace, belonging to the same period and style. The exterior has multiple angles and faces suggesting the fracture which took place in the Romanian culture when the monastery was demolished. Concrete was the favorite building material of the communist regime, but in this case concrete protects rather then destroys. Compositionally, the three major directional axes of the site were superimposed on the three major building programs: -Tourist axis : the Horizontal axis of the main entrance, links the entrance on the site with the museum, attracting visitors -Cultural axis: the Vertical axis defines the largest exhibition area -Research axis: the Diagonal axis pointing toward the Palace defines the archeological research center, the library and restoration shops .
