The “V8” is part of the "Classic Depot" project. This project is all about vintage vehicles. These have a high financial, but also cultural value. Adequate accommodation with special framework conditions is required for their preservation. This offers, on the site of the former Fritze-Lacke factory in Vienna-Hetzendorf, the "Classic Depot" on a total of around 5,250m2. The commercial property combines the following functions related to vintage cars: underground parking level for 50 vehicles, workshop on the ground floor, delivery with turntable and car elevator, vehicle preparation and plumbing/paint shop. The parking spaces for the vehicles are located on floors 1 and 2. These areas are heated and ventilated, and the facade is equipped with UV protective glass and external sun protection. The storage areas are supplemented by a 3-sided glazed meeting or seminar room with a view of the vehicles. On the one hand, the entire area is access-secured and video-monitored, but on the other hand it is open to advertisers around the clock.
Office space and a restaurant with a bar and several terraces on 2 levels are located on the top floor of the building. Due to the load transfer of the entire building in the outer walls, the storey was designed as a staggered storey in lightweight construction (post and beam construction and cross laminated board ceilings). This can also be seen on the facade and the wooden canopy in the restaurant area. In keeping with the industrial-technical theme of the automobile, the surfaces are largely black. Only the wooden floor and the metal bar are an exception here.
Due to the dark design, special attention was paid to the lighting. „Lighting“ Pads from Nimbus were used above the tables. Through their light lenses, the light source is not directly visible as such. The light becomes visible on the exposed surface, i.e. the table or the food. In addition, the lights are acoustically effective due to their textile undersides.
