This facility is designed to obtain a LEED silver
designation. Much like many of the rural
farms in the mid-west the building materials were selected on the basis of
blending the local vernacular with a first class office building. Re-use, recycling and regional materials have
been a part of the rural Kansas way of life before those terms became buzz
words in our society. With this concept
we desired to stress the LEED points that we felt exemplified the rural Kansas
lifestyle. Below are some highlights on
how the Silver designation will be obtained:
Conceptually this building was
meant to blend in with the rural farms in the mid-west. The building materials were selected on the
basis of recycled content, regionally extracted, and what would be typically
seen on a rural mid-west farmstead structure.
We tried to stress the LEED points that we felt exemplified the rural
mid-west lifestyle. I would like to
title this building a LEED vernacular structure.
