Uroczysko is an innovative residential development that prioritizes sustainability and energy efficiency while blending in harmoniously with its natural surroundings.
The house's use of Cross-Laminated Timber (CLT) ensures excellent structural performance while reducing its carbon footprint. By utilizing passive energy techniques, the design maximizes environmental benefits and lessens dependency on non-renewable resources.
CLT construction provide Negative Carbon Footprint - young trees in managed forests absorb CO₂ at a high rate, further enhancing the positive environmental impact. Timber buildings store carbon in their structures for the period of their maintained life. Unlike traditional materials such as concrete or steel, which generate massive emissions during production, CLT contributes to a “negative carbon footprint” in construction.
Uroczysko is a concept of a modern village that promotes living in harmony with nature. Main idea was to not only to remain natural habitat but also enhance it. Idea consists of restoration of natural pond, native greenery, wildlife freindly paths.
The pond acts as a natural retention basin, collecting rainwater and reducing flood risks during heavy rainfall, helps replenish groundwater levels by allowing water to slowly seep into the soil. It also reduces heat in the local microclimate through evaporation and increased humidity and supports carbon sequestration through aquatic plants and surrounding greenery.
The development of the main house and guest houses is not the main goal of the concept, actually, it is a complement that will allow users to fully utilize the site's potential by creating areas like hilltop viewpoints, common outdoor rest areas, horse paddocks, and a recreational area for water and winter sports. The plot will also be planted with fruit plants and other trees. Location of building aim to remain maximum of existing environment and Supplement it with additional elements to increase biodiversity.
The investors were actively involved throughout the design process. To ensure that the building was the best possible fit for their needs. The form of the building and development is the result of the functional plan created together with the future house users.
The forested part of the site, which remains natural with educational trails and viewing points. this area is enriched with fresh planting that is a common space for household residents and guests.
Locating such development elements as recreation areas by the pond, horse paddocks, use of the hill for winter sports, infilling the natural forest with nature trails and viewpoints - all of this is intended to create a local social center, and to encourage residents to take advantage of the potential of the natural environment. This use of a very expansive plot of investor land is intended to prove that it is not necessary to use a beautiful natural area for dozens of investment plots like a typical developer does.
Uroczysko is a premise which main goal is to fit in and harmonize with nature, more than to interfere with it.
