Set along a rare twin-cove coastline with sweeping sea views, the property’s setting brings to mind beachfront locations on the American east coast, such as Amagansett on Long Island. To capture this spirit, the studio crafted a home that celebrates its connection to the picturesque surroundings. The design focused on creating the intimate and relaxed vibe, while offering the luxury of a contemporary city residence. Materials and colors were carefully chosen to incorporate casual and subtle textures, with shapes and patterns that recall elements of nature.
To offer superior views of the ocean and landscape, the studio reconfigured the apartment space by removing a guestroom from the original floor plan, giving way to a continuous, open-planned living space with optimal frontage. Defining the main living area is a striking hand-finished bronze screen, which doubles as a sliding partition for a semi-enclosed study. Furniture and fittings showcase a range of designer pieces, as well as custom-designed furnishings, including a sleek nesting coffee table and a marble-top dining table. Throughout the living and dining areas, tactile materials emulate the warmth and richness of a vacation home: dual-tone terrazzo flooring and walls contrast with bleached oak surfaces and the plush, custom-designed rug. To match the understated interiors, hand-picked photographic works by Hong Kong-based artist Tugo Cheng, and Dutch photographer Marcel Heijnen adorn the walls of the living and dining areas, adding an avant-garde ambience. These subtleties extend into the bedrooms, where polished details and soft textures meet organic forms to achieve a sense of balance and harmony.
