A modern steakhouse in the heart of Logan Square is the newest dining destination inspired from the traditions of historical Philadelphia, modernized to appeal to locals and visitors alike. The 5,600 sq ft. restaurant seats up to 265 guests between its dining and pantry area, private dining room, bar and lounge, charcuterie station, and street-side outdoor dining area. The goal of the interior design was to redefine the modern steakhouse in a rural-chic environment and communicate the restaurant’s support of local traditions, purveyors and craftsmanship.
An eclectic mix of modern and traditional furnishings was integrated into the refreshed steakhouse to evoke an inviting atmosphere. Refined, rustic elements, such as varying shades of concrete tile and white painted clapboard walls, contribute to the hospitable environment, while reclaimed wood flooring and aged brick walls, alongside autumnal-colored fabrics and leather seating, add warmth.
Design highlights include: custom neon signage and a plaid and metal-woven back bar; unique antique gilded chicken wire chandeliers and a “shaker style” hanging peg rack with LED Edison light bulbs in place of candlesticks; art collection mix from local flea market finds and up and coming, modern Philadelphia artists; and a folding glass wall that opens directly into the working kitchen, leading into to an open concept dining room. The restaurant’s pride in “local first” is clearly communicated by displaying jars of locally sourced produce and a photo montage of the nearby suppliers highlight the local sources that create the menu.
The design has the ability to intrigue the senses through a series of imaginative twists and bold design decisions, such as vibrant wall coverings in the private dining room, curated collection of heirloom and whimsical china inside a custom modern-day ‘heritage’ cabinet, nodding to the traditional, yet bringing the concept up-to-date for the modern Philadelphia guest.
