Located in Kalpataru Parkcity, Thane, is this urban courtyard designed by Anmol Waychal of his eponymous firm in collaboration with Prashant Katkade of Studio Two Bricks. It is a 3BHK, spanning a footprint of 1,350 sq. ft. that adopts a courtyard-inspired layout, realised in earthy tones and contemporary sensibilities. At the heart of the home is a minimalistic simplicity in design details and palettes, expressed through furniture, finishes, and natural textures that uphold the urban courtyard theme. The living room boasts an extensive palette of pearl whites on the walls, wood tones in the furniture, and bronze and rattan accents on the swing. The TV wall mimics a stricter version of ‘sand ripples,’ the wall sconces radiate like a pearl in an open oyster, and occasional foliage completes the look. Inside, in the bedrooms is a sanctuary of oak brown tones, beiges, and lots of curved geometries. One has an elevated platform bed, one has accents in blue, and the other one boasts a tropical wallpaper too! The bedrooms do it all while maintaining the coherent colour and material scheme. And the kitchen, perfected in a teal mist green, becomes the soul of the design by staying minimal, clutter-free, serene, and of refined taste. In the given square footage, the two architecture firms have shown their calibre in creating a courtyard-like openness within a city that never stops, a well deserved pause.
