Cosmopolitan living with a beach attitude. The two buildings front Jamboree Road and act as the first phase and public face of the Uptown Newport Planned Community. Borrowing from the language of beach homes across Newport, the architecture is decidedly contemporary in nature, using classic “beachside” building materials of painted shingle siding, sand-colored stone, and warm wood accents in a clean and modern fashion.
The buildings have iconic corner elements that mark the main entries into the Community, and they step down in mass where they meet at the center Pedestrian Paseo, allowing for large pool decks that open eastward toward the San Joaquin Marsh and the hills of Turtle Ridge, with views of Saddleback Mountain beyond. A pedestrian bridge connects the two pool decks across the 50’ wide ground-level Public Paseo, allowing for the easy connection of the individual amenity programs of an active / fitness side and a passive / lounge side.
Large-scale massing with large architectural moves hold the street edge along the vehicular-dominated Jamboree Road while the massing fronting Uptown Newport Drive, the quiet internal street, breaks and steps down in order to afford a more human scale. A retail component is located at the main community entry at Jamboree along Uptown Newport Drive, as well as the Leasing offices of both buildings, working to create a connection to the active public environment. Ground-level residential units fronting Uptown Newport Drive have a direct connection to the public sidewalk via expanded patios and stoops, further accentuating the pedestrian nature of the community.
