The renovation of the townhouse began in early 2013. The concept for opening up the space and updating it from top to bottom was rooted in a holistic understanding of the connection between the, materials, walls, fixtures, and lighting.
A floating lighting above the entrance defines the foyer. The versatile first room can switch from functioning as an office to a TV room to a guest room, while appearing clean and crisp all- around.
The kitchen, located in the center of the first level, now extends into the hallway, where the refrigerator and pantry were positioned behind white, high-gloss custom panels to match the kitchen cabinets. Nearby the kitchen, natural light above the dining room shines through a large skylight, while at night the glow of two magical moons float over the table.
The living room fireplace was converted to gas, and it ignites with the press of a button. The clear glass staircase railing helps foster an open feel up toward the second level where the master suite is located. By moving walls and doors, space was freed to create a second sink in the master bathroom and a wall-to-wall closet.
The third level is home to the third bedroom, third bathroom, and the laundry area. Maximizing the use of every square inch, the design includes a hidden closet in the wall, a wall-to-wall desk, and a closet with drawers, shelves, and hangers.
At the pinnacle of the townhouse, the rooftop and outdoor deck are complemented by efficient storage solutions and the modern comforts of a TV and a lounge area with a built-in bench.
