The entrance of this home immediately leads into the kitchen, which was tiled from wall to wall. By installing hardwood flooring across the entrance, kitchen and living room, we made the space feel more fluid and expansive. New LED lighting illuminates the foyer/entrance. One bedroom entrance used to face the kitchen. An angled wall was installed outside of the bedroom to improve the overall layout and create a better dynamic between the living room and the kitchen.
The entrances to both bedrooms were too close to the common spaces, creating a lack of privacy among the residents. The goal was to strike a balance between openness and privacy. Another issue addressed in the redesign was the accessibility of bathrooms only by walking through bedrooms. A few walls were built, others were torn down, and a new entrance to the guest bathroom was part of the solution. In the process, a new hallway with a laundry area and linen closets was built.
Custom-made floor to ceiling closet units in both bedrooms create a unified, sleek appearance. The custom-made bed frames offer storage space below the mattress. To maximize the height of the kid’s bedroom, a custom-made lofted day bed was built above the study area.
