A bi-level garden apartment on the Upper East Side was renovated with a completely new lighting scheme, a variety of soffits to distinguish spaces while integrating light fixtures, and custom display cabinets for the clients’ art collection.
Particular attention was paid to the over-sized living space with columns running down the central axis. Structural work required that a new steel column be added adjacent to an existing (undersized) column. The larger footprint was handily accommodated with a cylindrical column cover. This was made particularly distinctive with a custom laminated mirror border which creates the illusion that the column sits in water.
