Located on the Upper Eastside - This one bedroom, 1-1/2 Bathroom apartment was renovated to better suit the client’s needs and extensive art collection. The renovation included opening the Foyer to the Living Room, updating both bathrooms, providing additional storage space, and installing a laundry closet.
Design Concept - To capture the elegance and beauty of the existing spaces by opening the apartment and allow the natural light to flood all the spaces. An overall neutral color scheme with white walls and wide plank white oak wood floors allowed for art pieces to bring the color into the space. The Mid-Century furniture defined the spaces and was a nice juxtaposition to the Edwardian style fireplace… combining the old and new. An innovative, knife-edge ceiling with LED lighting allowed us to focus on displaying art while not losing the open beams and 11-foot ceilings.
We turned what was a traditionally laid-out, shabby-chic, pre-war co-op apartment with good bones into a very clean, airy, light-filled space that takes maximum advantage of the south-facing views.
