2FORM collaborated with the University of Oregon to design a distinctive new home for the Asian Literature Collection within the UO Library. This remodeled space is rich with cultural reference and thoughtful detail, supporting both quiet study and visual inspiration. The collection was established in 1967 and has since become the largest collection of its kind in Oregon with more than 100,000 print titles.
Cork wall panels provide flexible space for student and faculty pin-ups, while custom carpet patterns subtly echo the textures of zen gardens. Stepped green bookshelves take cues from the image of a dragon, bringing a sculptural rhythm to the room while nodding to East Asian traditions.
The result is a warm, dynamic environment that honors the depth of the collection and invites discovery.
