The 200,000 SF building houses two schools (the Loewenberg School of Nursing, and the School of Communication Sciences & Disorders), as well as clinical spaces (the Memphis Speech & Hearing Center, and a future Autism Center).
The new facility supports over 1000 students and 70 faculty in the nursing school & 100 students and 25 faculty in the communication sciences and disorders center, providing 24 research labs, 6 simulation labs, 4 skills, labs, 2 health assessment labs, a dozen classrooms, and over 100 offices.
This facility has allowed the university to expand their healthcare services offered to the public, increase educational opportunities for students, and provides a location to combine into one place classrooms and clinics that were previously spread across nine buildings in several parts of town for UofM Nursing Students.
This higher education building features the latest in technology, security, simulation, classroom learning modules, and research facilities. It also houses a speech and hearing clinic for public use and a state of the art anechoic chamber.
