The new student precinct has transformed the on-campus student experience at the University of Melbourne by delivering a collection of sophisticated indoor and outdoor spaces that attend to the needs of a diverse student body.
Encompassing nine buildings, the precinct has brought together the University’s student unions, academic services, and the Institute for Indigenous Development, Murrup Barak for the first time; this has significantly reshaped and revitalised the landscape and built environment of the site.
By designing in relation to the existing heritage buildings and landscapes that flank the precinct, the history of the university is sharpened and brought into focus.
