The new Health Education Building redefines health science education at the University of Kansas Medical Center and has national implications for inter-professional and interdisciplinary team learning. Located on the prominent corner of 39th and Rainbow, this 172,000 square foot facility serves as a landmark building at the gateway to campus.
Designed through a partnership with CO Architects, the spaces inside the HEB include technology-enhanced environments for experiential learning (active classrooms, simulation center, clinical skills labs and learning studios and labs), clinical training integrated with systems-based science education; and design of spaces that enhance the social and collaborative aspects of learning.
The ripple effect of this new facility will be felt throughout campus as current education space will be reused in new ways.
