Larson & Darby Group partnered with the University of Illinois in the design of a new, 3-story addition to the existing college of medicine in Rockford, Illinois
The addition, designed to meet the criteria for a LEED Silver certification, houses the National Center for Rural Health Professions, and trains doctors and other medical professionals in the unique healthcare needs of rural communities.
The new building houses classrooms, a library, computer instruction and testing facilities, student support spaces, receiving facilities, offices for Health Science College programs and community outreach facilities.
Remodeling of approximately 16,250 SF of existing building areas is also took place as part of this project. The existing library space was remodeled to accommodate several facilities including classrooms for the College of Pharmacy, meeting rooms, student lounge, Student Affairs office, and a corridor to connect the new addition with the corridor to the auditorium. The third floor of the existing building was remodeled for laboratory space for the College of Pharmacy.
