LivFAMA’s Under Clouds project is a culinary interior space located in Chengdu, China.
The design team analyzed the brand concept from the perspective of "localness" and "naturalism", using not only manners and behaviors studied from local culture, but also translating cultural symbols through contemporary materials and forms. Based on the brand vision, LFA sets the design goal as a "new regionalism dining benchmark in China", striving to customize a pioneering dining experience that combines wild rural tension and urban aesthetics. Such vision aims to deliver the spiritual energy of Yunnan's forests and the hustle and bustle of Chengdu's streets to achieve a subtle contemporary reconciliation.
LivFAMA employs a horizontal control line throughout the entire space , the design utilizes a parameterized texture template based on rammed earth pedestals to transform geographical memories such as the contours of Yunnan's terraces into tangible spatial texts. As a symbolic interpretation, it transcends the constraints of superficial collage, establishing a biological morphological design system. In addition, the dynamic light and shadow matrix formed by customized mushroom lamps enables natural imagery to transcend static decorative attributes, becoming an active medium that connects physical space with emotional memory. Tailored to the memories of storefronts of Chengdu in the 1950s, a bespoke facade system is designed. The modular matrix composed of independent wooden units can adjust their opening and closing angles according to scene requirements, creating a cross-dimensional spatial dialogue between virtual and real boundaries.
By mediating sustainability, cultural preservation, and social equity through experiential design, this project offers a socially significant pioneer in the Southwest for culinary spaces.
