Nowadays, industrial areas have been surrounded
by new urban developments due to the uncontrolled growth of the city. But what
happens with this “isles” when the industries that once belonged there abandon
them?
The answer is simple, speculators demolish the
antique industrial buildings and build houses for middle-class families.
We believe that this phenomenon ends with the character
of the city, and erase its history. That
is why, the aim of this project is to give a new use to a unique industrial
building which has been abandon, and is in danger of disappearing.
In order to do that, we replace the existing
roof by a new one, where the new apartments are placed, preserving the original
construction and its space. In this way
when a user buys or rents one of these apartments, he or she also can enjoy the
space that is below their feet. A place that could be also shared with the neighborhood,
creating a social catalyst.
