The feasibility study/ master plan evaluated current facility conditions, predicted future student, faculty and administrative growth, established program priorities, improves facility aesthetics and makes design recommendations for improvements that fit with the vision for Turner Hall. Bailey Edward examined the building structure and infrastructure in a holistic manner; conducted programming interviews with all constituents; interfaced with UIUC schedulers and administration to identify current and future education and research needs; worked with facility engineers and campus Facility and Services staff to identify infrastructure conditions and needs.
Long term priorities with estimated costs and efficient implementation strategies for upgrades, as well as renovations to the building were identified. An extensive renovation and east side expansion is recommended to meet growing student learning needs and facilitate student recruitment. Design involved planning for classrooms, teaching laboratories, research laboratories, student and faculty collaboration spaces, and conferencing center.
