STUDIOS’ design for the new Landfair Student Apartments pays homage to the classic Los Angeles courtyard-housing concept, offering an open and welcoming presence from the street as well as lively communal spaces within. The building is carefully scaled to fit into the north Westwood Village neighborhood, which is composed of fraternities on one side and private residences on the other.
The building includes 184 beds in varying configurations – generally 2 bedroom/4-bed units including kitchen and living room – for occupancy by undergraduate students, as well as below-grade parking.
The two-level courtyard features a variety of community spaces, including a barbecue area with a large family-style wooden table, casual seating areas, and a central stair. Exterior corridors and stairways further activate the space. Unit patios primarily face into the courtyard, and fourth floor roof terraces take advantage of the great views of Westwood and the UCLA campus.
