The University of California San Diego reimagined Revelle Plaza to become the 64 Degrees Café. The University had a vision to exchange the out of date facility for one that is a vibrant hub of dining and socializing. The kitchen supports residential dining, two food trucks, Incredi-Bowls and the newly added Flavors of the World. Also included was Roger’s Market, which provides coffee and desserts in addition to the commissary produced sandwiches, sushi and salads. The project renovated approximately 25,000 sf of food service space which included the kitchen, food storage, refrigeration and dining areas. The updated facility seats 288 in the main dining area and 35 in the café/ market. The exterior spaces were designed to accommodate seating of 190 and used innovative seating elements and furniture to create intimate neighborhoods within the larger space, where students would feel comfortable eating, socializing and studying.
