Eight years before RSA was offered this commission, Romi Khosla, then with the firm of Kanvinde & Rai,had designed an office facility in Bangalore for United Breweries, one of the companies of the UB group. The construction began and then got stalled midway due to the cement crisis of the early 1980's.So, RSA was entrusted with the job of turning the site of the partly built Bangalore office of one of the companies into that of the entire group.
RSA decided against major changes in the incomplete concrete frame and starting from scratch.
There was strength in the original conception and form and so it was decided to develop the frame as well as the flavour to meet the new requirements.The materials and colour palette were also retained as far as possible.
The art works in the lobby and chairman's office were commissioned from M.F. Hussain.
