The main need and goal by the property was a space visually open to the environment. After the first meeting with a couple of sketches, all the info and feelings I received, like visual language desired , open views, line of sight and the way to access... led me unequivocally to a reference point, very clear one. The Farnsworth house of Mies Van Der Rohe.
Very bold horizontal lines with the floor and roof planes, structural vertical elements and the prominence of the line of sight were not so much a work of pure design, but a realization of the aesthetic requirements of the customer. Getting a look from a classic visual culture, adapting all the requirements and dimensions of project was the real duties as designer. With no doubt the result can be seen as a clone of a classic, but itself is a solution to a need. Said that, is a beautiful piece of iron and glass.
The core and focus of the project is the kitchen space, tv recording studio, with a panoramic environment and line of sight, with natural light and capacity to regulate it. Aside the kitchen another space, a chill cornere to support the development of the program and aiding to frame the main planes, placing it in a real and warm space, more homelike and less impersonal. There are also a couple of areas of support, a small room and technical storage. Small terrace serves as alternative in warm seasons and space as a transition between the inside and outside. Kitchen and module finishes were chosen to provide warmth and closeness to the public, using noble materials used traditionally in kitchens, but with simple and little ornate lines.
The execution of the project, by operational requirements had to be quick, both in global terms of project implementation on-site. The project was developed in about three months. The module was built at the factory and was located in one night. After a week and a half of work on-site, began the work and filming at it.
