The concept of this gallery project was inspired by the materiality of metal.
The ductility of metal makes it possible to create a twisted spatial prototype. The prototype is highly unique in terms of structure and space.
Structurally, a vertical wall and a horizontal floor slab are connected by this twisted prototype. However, each unit by itself is not structurally stable, but when two units are intertwined, they form a very stable structure.
Spatially, different ways of intertwining the prototypes, horizontally and vertically, create multiple space types that vary in scale, proportion, light and darkness. The different spatial characteristics will provide a very rich spatial experience for the gallery and meet the needs of different exhibits for the exhibition space. At the same time, the repeatability of the prototype provides the project the possibility for future extensions.
The site is located in a waterfront space in lower New York City, where the horizontal flowing form of the space is integrated with the flowing Hudson river.
