Fully furnished and unoccupied
since the early 1980s, this 4-unit 1950s apartment building was truly a time
capsule. To-the-studs renovations involved minor floor plan adjustments to open
the living spaces, new sliding doors in place of low windows, and replacing
solid balcony railings with glass to capture the distant urban views. All
kitchens and bathrooms were updated with neutral palettes and subtle color
spots. Clean lines and minimal detailing create a modern, comfortable feel. The
project includes sustainably grown wood flooring, locally sourced cabinetry and
tile, and much of the original ‘mid-century’ furnishings and fixtures were
found new homes through a garage sale.
