Turnip Rose intended to be a modern, delightful and cozy café. The core idea, established by the client, was to create a relaxing island paradise in the crowded cityscape. As a result, design brief involved: adapting Island Style concepts and presenting them within a completely different framework.
Design process started with creation of a focal piece: a round seating booth in the middle of the space. This feature then blossoms and branches out on the ceiling to replicate pedal structure of a rose. As a matter of fact, the layered circular ceiling soffits were deliberately shaped in a way they are to demonstrate abstracted rose flowers.
The circular forms create diverse sights from different perspectives. This design quality manipulates people to walk around the space, stare at the ceiling from every angles, point to the design, open a conversation about it, and, in general, interact with the art piece. Turnip Rose creates a playful experience for people who come to have a simple meal at a relaxing place.
Moreover, selected colors and finishes play an important role in manifestation of an island paradise in the cityscape. Bright orange ceiling along with complimentary green colored walls, natural wood look flooring, green and orange fabric seats, wooden tables and chairs, bamboo texture panels in front of the counters, and Hawaiian graphics on the wall all generate cozy and relaxing feeling in the space. Overall, all the design elements are in a harmony with one another.
Designer team envisioned to craft a memorable time for visitors through designing a soothing and lively environment. To achieve this goal, Turnip Rose was inspired by Island Style, however, this style got simplified, abstracted, distorted, and it got presented within a totally new framework. This is why Turnip Rose is matchless and remarkable from every aspect possible.
