Equipped with state-of-the-art digital technology and staffed by educators and media professionals, the TUMO Center for Creative Technologies is an innovative, open media studio in the heart of Yerevan, Armenia. Any motivated teenager can become a member, advancing through levels of knowledge and skill, all the while producing creative content and media applications through real-life projects. The center’s curriculum encompasses animation, video games, web development, digital video and audio, and its success has led to its integration within partnering high schools’ curricula.
Our intervention consisted of planning and designing over 7,000 sqm of interactive platforms for which we created specific furniture, workstations, dynamic wiring, data connection outlets and partitioning systems.
The main working platforms are organized around the logic of an interactive circuit linking pedagogy and entertainment, in which mobile workstations can assemble in groups and connect at any point within the space to data cords that feed off the ceiling grid.
TUMO Center for Creative Technologies opened its doors in the fall of 2011. The open platforms we have designed have now become an interactive playground for over 7,000 students, staffed by a faculty exceeding 150 educators and media professionals.
