The renovation of this 1970's stucco over masonry house involved opening the house up to the surrounding mountain and city views. The allure of the house leads one through it and back to the outside once again. From within the house, every vista is a striking framed vignette that compels further exploration.A key element of the renovation was the creation of a new outdoor living area at the East end of the house. For over thirty years a solid blank masonry wall and desert scrub, this neglected area was transformed into a desert retreat. The covered deck sits perched at the height of the interior floor, overlooking a new koi pond, and providing the ideal elevation from which to observe nature's stage and its progression from oasis, to desert, to the City buildings and lights, all within the backdrop of the Catalina Mountains.
