It is expected to provide visitors with a complete beer culture experience, including beer history, production process, beer tasting and brewing lesson. The brewery is located in the outskirts of central Taiwan. With an existing building of a 2-storey, 40 years old factory, the team aims to create new scope, as well as retaining the characteristics of the old building, also to sustain of historical memory.
We install the atrium square as the core of the building complex. In addition to the brewery, bar, dining, teaching and exhibition space are attached to the square around.
A cycle route staring from the square is introduced for guiding visitors to visit all kinds of brewing experience. The square is expected to gather people as the city square in general.
For the existing buildings, moderate renovation was given, and highlights the architectural features of hollow tiles, with unique lighting and natural ventilation function. A new exhibition space is installed and float above the existing brick building. The building of chimney shape and horizontal articulation would provide vivid image for the brewery.
By brick cladding and metal works, the building is expected to convey warm texture, as well as the modern streamline. We try to translate the light and weight of the building tectonic, the solid and void of the building space, and convey the sense of time, give the old building new life, and jointly create a variety of old and new dialogue.
