The project is located in Fort Lauderdale Florida with expansive water views of the Fort Lauderdale Beach skyline, Las Olas Isles, Downtown Fort Lauderdale and distant Port Everglades. The project is oriented to maximize control of the harsh summer sun and cooling winter breezes with the entrance on the north and water views along the south. Designed for entertaining both indoors and out throughout the season the outdoor living areas are shaped by the architecture to reinforce this connection. An expansive dock space is along the southern edge of the property.
Design inspiration is based on many of the concepts from the regional Tropical Modern movement in South Florida that continues to inform design today. Its principles focus on the climate, using deep overhangs, inset windows and site orientation to maximize cooling tropical breezes. It blurs the lines between inside and outside. It uses clear geometry, honesty in details, and simplicity in spatial movement. It stresses sustainable local materials that reflect the local tropical climate.
