Historical note: Since the late 16 century on the spot
where the Pushkin Theatre is situated now, there were Tverskiye gates of the WhiteCity.
In 1720 after the gates were demolished, a small square was formed. A year
later there was built a triumphal arch on it as a triumphal entry to the
ancient capital of Peter I. Since then during all 18 century triumphal arches
were regularly put on-site gates to every new coronation.
Main entrance – the Triumphal Arch is placed into a
glass case made of DuPont™ SentryGlas®. The volume of a glass case is wrapped
with a grid of stainless steel woven with LEDs. The glass case presents itself
the communication interface - media-screen.
Recreating the image of the lost historical monument
of architecture in Moscow
(an image namely as a symbol of the reborn/revived in a new interpretation) is
of key importance in the conduct of opening and closing ceremonies of the
Moscow International Film Festival.
Transparent media front panel broadcasts success. It
offers many powerful features of effective communication on a large scale that
become a tool of urban communication exchange - graphics, text and video. History and innovative technology of
media-tecture form a new space.
Renovation of the theatre itself is designed to expand
the entrance area at the expense of the upper tier with balconies and
galleries.
Main staircase is covered by a flexible volume made of
DuPont™ Corian® and textile membranes coated with DuPont™ Teflon®. Volume
smoothly flows into the surrounding space, creating a series of levels for
spectators and transforming it into the theatre with media-screen. The internal
space goes to the outside.
This idea provides an opportunity to rethink the
process of interaction between cinema and audience, to change the dynamics of
the object and the environment.
