The busy city life invites for some relaxation and so this 650 square feet (60 m2) residential flat interior was redesigned to cater some me time for the client. Initially a, 2 bedroom- hall- kitchen apartment has been redefined to give an appealing indoors.
The principal designer strongly believes that the beauty of life can be enhanced with the inclusion of Mother Nature into the spaces. Following the same determination, they were successful enough to add on tree- as a living sculpture, for the focal point of the design.
The natural sculpture, amalgamates into the design with an idea of addressing island amidst the living area, kitchen and the dining. The seating under the tree has an ambience of a cozy space perfect for midnight snacks or musical night.
The brown shaded main entrance door details in linear groves, to keep the design minimal and complement the interior theme. The east facing windows in the apartment have vast stretches of greens in the backdrop making it a serene place in itself to sip a hot cup of coffee in the mornings. On moving ahead, into this apartment, one gets greeted by the cleverly designed graphics on the wall. The free flowing graphics, illustrate an organic form in shades of pastel tones, contrasting the bold lines in the foreground.
The living area is furnished with a grey velvet upholstered sofa placed by the standing balcony. Living room turns into an entertaining outdoor space, designed to install a 6 ft. tall tree for an informal seating around it. Central setting of the scuplturesque tree enhances the beauty of space. Orientation of the tree portrays a different picture every time on seeing.
It is harmonized with a breakfast table clad with grey tiles detailed in bold groves and backed with subtle metal and ply board high chairs colored in white.
The kitchen is thus designed, to facilitate open planning. It also enhances the quality of living. Designed in a way this barrier free space, links to the living, dining and the greens in the background, giving it a pleasant experience. Believing in using the excess material, the kitchen backsplash wall displays a different pattern approach from residual floor tiles.
Exploring the space further, one is welcomed by a golden yellow low height seating adjacent to the standing balcony surrounded by breathtaking views of the greenery fused in this sub urban area of the city. A deliberate attempt, converts a structural beam into a build in frame of a stepped sunken seating. The barrier free space lends it a character perfect for cheerful gatherings and parties.
The complementary color theme is used to give the space a cheerful ambience. The bold use of leather finished blue and earthy colored floor tiles lightly render the space in contrast to the tree and the organic graphics on the wall. The walls painted in dull white to bring out the beauty of the theme. Defining the open to sky environment, false ceiling weaves the pattern of pergolas for the roof. The aesthetics of the ceiling conceal the lighting fixtures into the design.
Unlike the conventional bedrooms with bed and side tables, this one is furnished on completely variant concept of utilizing the floor plate with a hidden storage along the periphery. For some restful comfort, a low height bed is carved out from the solid periphery mass, which alternates as double seating. The color palette has been restricted to blue and brown to make the spaces appear large. To keep it subtle, the walls are clad in brown wooden textured mica sheet punctuated with bold groves. The continuity of leather toned blue tiles on the flooring, illuminates space in combination of elements of nature.
To let the clients, experience resort style bathrooms, a white shade bath tub has been installed against the wall clad in deep blue color with contrasting slate grey and earthy toned tiles, lends it a fancy ambience.
Mentioning about the project, it marks the concentrated efforts of the team to gift a masterstroke touch to the then conventionally designed structure.
