The Tree house was our first attempt to merge design and construction. The entire project was built, funded, and designed throughout two consecutive summers. Most of the materials were either salvaged from local dilapidated structures, or collected from the scraps of near-by lumber companies. The tree house initiated our interest in allowing the materials of construction to influence the form and spatial qualities of architecture. Attempts at designing through drawing were made, but often were abandoned in lieu of in the field designing. Most drawings occurred on scrap pieces of wood, rather than clean sheets of paper.
