This tilt-wall concrete apartment buliding is located in an older area of Dallas with both business and housing. The tight 50-foot wide corner site was arranged with auto circulation running behind the buliding, which allowed for street-side stoop entries and landscaped patios. The tilt-wall construction forms a simple structural envelope on three sides of each unit, with infilled fiber-cement siding over wood framing on the back wall. Unadorned window openings, scored regulating lines and different textures animate the simple surfaces of the concrete.
