In order to create a direct connection with the water, a floating dock rises up out of Gowanus Bay creating a series of bends and folds that drive the form of the building while simultaneously informing circulation. The surface plane rises up over the building and back down to create a public amphitheater and to better integrate with a proposed park beyond. The surface treatment creates a gradient which highlights this connection and blurs the lines between the "natural" and built environments. The project is suggestive of the interdependence between the two
