The proposal presents two specific
operations to generate the new face of Pushkinsky
Cinema Hall, at first instance a base frame is created
containing the activities currently carried on the lower
level of the building which starts as a
mediator of the proposal. The base
frame provides controlled placement of
advertisement to promote the city,
the building, and its activities.
The second operation is
to generate a skin envelope of the existing
building, using the current terrace as boundaries of the
constructed space.
By creating this new space of gathering, it
allows to understand the user's visit
through a series of transitional stages. These
are approached from the most public
and collective moments such as the
experience of the square, the access from the main entrance
or secondary stairs, to later enter a new
place of disconnection between the public life of the
city and the theater experience: a covered plaza that
allows the reading of the city through
punctures that create a diffuse image of the
immediate context and in turn enhance the
transition between the square and the theater.
Also provided within the proposal, the repositioning
of the glass facade by replacing the existing skin laminated
safety glass panels, which allow
the lobby, ticketing areas and direct
access to the cinema to be always protected.
The proposal seeks to create a referential
icon in Moscow, that strengthens the
relationship between Pushkin
Square and the building through a gallery where the plaza is
a building, and the building also serves as a plaza by
encouraging a change in the dynamic
of public space and developing a reference
point to host this important space for cultural
life in Russia.
