FERME FRIBOURGEOISE
Creation of 8 crossing apartments. Located at the entrance to the Municipality of Courtepin coming from Fribourg, this beautiful farm typical of the region deserved a total rehabilitation to bring a structure back to life from the 18th century, classified as heritage of the City of Fribourg as a category 2 protected building. The farm included a barn part which could be partially demolished (the roof was supported in its entirety) and a habitable part which had to be imperatively preserved in its entirety. There possibility of transforming the whole to accommodate eight housing units was offered by the regulations of the area, affected by medium residential density, in a rural neighborhood and individual homes.
The gross land use index (CUS) is 1.00 and the land use coefficient (COS) is 0.30. The large existing volume, which separated the barn part of the habitable part, is reused as space common distribution to the apartments of the
farm. In this volume, whose designers wanted to maintain the original height, the woodwork of the carrier were preserved and reused as decorative elements attached to walls in raw concrete.
The apartments have been designed to very refined, both in terms of materials, that at the level of their through configuration,
offering spacious storage areas on the south side longitudinal day, with open kitchen and central island and, on the north side, the night spaces also equipped with large bay windows sliding.
At the attic level, the apartments have been designed in the form of crossing lofts, the structure carrier was maintained in the idea of contraster with the new volumetry of spaces.
Outside, all the original woodwork, including took the balcony and the exterior carpentry of the habitable part have been reproduced identically.
A rustic plaster covers the lower parts of the walls. The cover returns to its original appearance with the reuse of terracotta tiles from country. Underfloor heating and hot water sanitary facilities are powered by a pump Air-Water heat. Thermal insulation has been put in place on the interior part of the exterior walls of the farm in order to maintain the hard appearance
and compact molasses. A layout neat exterior, with cover by bike, a fountain and a few places park, completes this transformation successful.
