TRAIN STATION OF CERRADO
Considering the overall development of Brazil and the state of Mato Grosso, along with the growth of the rail industry, the idea arose to design a passenger station that could become a local icon, recognized for its striking architecture. This project symbolizes the technological and economic advancement of the Mato Grosso region.
At the same time, it draws strong inspiration from nature, promoting appreciation and contemplation of the surrounding environment. Sustainable strategies are integral to the design, including rainwater reuse, solar energy utilization, and natural ventilation and lighting. The building’s design was inspired by the gatambu fruit, a typical plant of the native cerrado where the project is located.
This work aims to demonstrate that it is possible to combine technology and sustainability in a unique project that also keeps humans in close contact with nature. Reconnecting people with nature is increasingly important in a world dominated by work, overconsumption, and the endless pursuit of happiness—an eternal quest that often makes us overlook the small and simple things in nature that bring joy simply by allowing us to live. This is the nature of which we are inherently a part.
