Hord Coplan Macht led the team for the renovation and expansion of the SECU Arena at Towson University. The University projects a 25% increase in enrollment in the next decade and is also undergoing a transformation in its nature from a local institution with a large commuter population to a traditional four-year college with regional stature. This change demands a comprehensive program of improvement in the athletic facilities for its Division I teams.
The new, 5-200 seat, SECU Arena, a multi-use indoor arena facility, provides a greater seating capacity, a new practice facility, multiple flexible program spaces, an upgraded technology system, and an innovative and spacious lobby. The renovated arena acts as a physical and visual connection between the east and north areas of campus. The project has approximately 55,000 sf of renovated space and 117,000 sf of new area.
