Puerto Angel is a luxury suite complex in the Bay of Puerto Angel, Oaxaca, located on a site with a slope of approximately 50° and surrounded by cliffs. The challenge of the project was to create a real estate development respectful of the environment, integrating vertical architecture without altering the landscape. The solution was to organize the suites in a staggered manner, taking advantage of the altimetric variations of the terrain and respecting the natural slope of the property.
The design seeks a harmonious dialogue between the limestone of the mountain, the surrounding vegetation and the Pacific horizon, offering users an immersive experience in nature. To adapt to the topography, a construction system of columns with reticular slabs was used, which in addition to their structural functionality, create an interior space open to the exterior. The roofs of each suite serve as terraces for the upper units, optimizing the use of space.
The combination of wood, glass and concrete in the materiality of the project allows the facades to open up to the breathtaking 270° ocean views. In addition, when privacy or protection is required, wood Louvers are used to insulate the interiors, while the exterior blends in with the landscape thanks to its natural coloring. In this way, Puerto Angel offers a design that respects and enhances the natural environment, integrating the functional with the aesthetics of the site.
