The project involves the design of a building to house tourist apartments in the heart of Alicante. The new building comprises a six-story structure, with visitor reception areas on the ground floor, five floors with two two-bedroom apartments per floor, and a rooftop terrace with shared amenities.
The proposed program seeks to optimize space, maximizing the client's requirements, while maintaining the quality and spatial and material characteristics of the apartments and common areas. These common areas play a significant role in a public setting like this, where reception and communication spaces serve as the first impression of the accommodation service for visitors. Color becomes an identifying element for the different uses and floors, even extending into the apartments themselves.
The symmetrical facade frames the balconies with a volume of exposed concrete that forms an upper finish to the terrace, seeking the verticality of the whole for its integration into the tall buildings of the surroundings, enhanced by the use of a strip of flexible ceramic woven sheet of fired clay pieces, which filters the view of the stairwell openings and adds warmth to the whole.
