Working with a traditional andalusian house means to find the difficult balance between keeping what implies the essence of the building and renovating its details to upgrade the style into comtemporary.
This design emerge from the idea of maximizing the natural lighting inside through a facade full of windows and spaces as open as possible. This way, the main indoor areas of the house result connected to each other and to the outdoor areas by completely removing the limits and so amplifying the daily user experience.
Regarding the Interior Design, the key is to enhance the simplicity through the use of few and carefully labored materials so the light becomes fundamental. In that sense, microcement is selected for the floor, plaster for the ceilings and walls, and natural wood for the doors and closets. As a result, not only the image changes into an state-of-the-art style, but also the perfect context for the house is created so the wood can contribute to the design with the warmth needed for such a versatile and open space. Details like the original tiles are kept in opposition to the new materials in order to create some tension between traditional and modern and also to respect the former identity of the house.
About the outdoors areas, the design focuses on the upgrading of the existing materials to integrate indoor-outdoor spaces, so the house can extend itself to the garden and terraces.
As a conclusion, this project seek the opening of the house towards the light, such an important and charasteristic feature of this part of Spain, fostering the natural lighting and ventilation of the whole rooms.
