Torami Structure
This structure is located along the highroad near Chiba Prefecture's world famous surfing spot in Japan.
A client who emigrated from Tokyo wanted to make a place (like a pub) where people gather at part of the site of his house.
When considering the design of the structure, I refer to the form and the materials of the building group that is built in the area around the site. The reason is that I think that it would be easy to fit new structure and old areas. And such consideration often leads to cost reduction.
Just by simple copying and using the information collected as it is, there is a possibility of getting buried in the surroundings. I thought that design operation (reconfiguration) should be done.
Specifically, by having a diagonal line of a square plan as a ridge, a typified gable roof will be a rich variety. When looking at the car along the highroad, it seems there is a gap between the structure and the roof..
The interior is slowly going by the owner's self build
Chairs and tables will arrive at a later date.
Then it will be more like a pub. Now it is ambiguous space but essential.
