topography of light, NY Central Park, master in landscape urbanism*The topography of light in Central Park , New York consists in the analysis of the direction and duration of the solar illumination in the lake edge. In this analysis, digital tools were placed in the edge of the lake. By their localization and disposition establish a pattern of the areas and the form in which each point in the edge of the lake receives the reflection of light. In a second stage this analysis tools become design tools that transform the effect of the light reflection in a topographical elevation of the lake edge. In this way the distance between analysis and design is collapsed to a direct effect between site and action.Topography of light is a ground strategy that using an immaterial source like the reflection of light transforms a material elevation of the topography.*This project was developed as part of the Architectural Association master in Landscape Urbanism, 2000-2001
