Tokio 65

Mexico City, Mexico

YEAR
2007
The project is conceived in a vertical direction by different materials. This building has a wooden podium that connects three crystal volumes linked by two circulation cores, merging with the exterior through steel and wooden terraces along with the steel pergola that unites the whole project with the environment.

The building is located in the west side of the city and it is a single six level block with 3 main facades in the streets of Tokio, Dublín and Toledo in the Colonia Juárez. It has 20 apartments connected by two vertical circulation cores, each one with stairs and elevator. It has two pedestrian accesses to the building, located on Tokio Street and each access leads to the vertical circulation core, separating it from the vehicular access. The building has three internal patios that help illuminate and ventilate the building.

Lobby

Here are located the 30 parking spaces of the building including one for disabled people with an exclusive access. There is a pedestrian access to the vertical circulation core, as well as the building services such as warehouses, the restrooms and the engine-room. The materials used on this level are: concrete for the floor except the vertical circulation areas which are made of marble with iron handrails and held by structural reinforced exposed concrete. The warehouses are made of concrete block.

First Level to Fourth Level

4 apartments are located in this level with at least one view to Tokio Street. All except one apartment have two bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a living room and dining rooms, kitchen and a balcony. The other apartment has only one bedroom and one bathroom contrary to the others. The main access to the apartments and to the bedrooms and bathrooms are made of wooden doors. The dividing walls are made of drywall and the walls and floor in bathrooms are made of marble. The window screens are made of anodized aluminum. There is a back patio with a terrace which belongs to one of the apartments.

Pent House Level

This level has helical iron stairs that allow access to a second level where the rooftop is located.
