The genesis of the design for Tive Inc.'s office space in Prishtina was driven by the need to create a space that promotes productivity and creativity. To achieve this, the design team focused on providing multiple modes of working through an open-space layout, natural materials, and contextual elements.
Ethnographic details — such as traditional tables, carpets, patterns, and old artifacts — are integrated into the four open living rooms to introduce elements of hospitality and connect the space to the cultural context of Kosovo.
The layout follows an open-plan concept, anchored by a central boulevard that connects the main entrance to the different departments. This axis is emphasized by large solid wood beams suspended from the ceiling, creating a visual link between the various zones. A looping circulation path wraps around the office, distinguished by variations in light fixtures and floor finishes to establish a contrast between static and dynamic areas.
To emphasize the idea of hospitality-driven design, the living rooms are positioned near windows to allow for ample natural light. A multipurpose room serves various functions — from table tennis and yoga to presentations and office gatherings. The large terrace adds a flexible, open-air amenity that can be used as a workspace, a lounge, or a place to lie down and enjoy the sun.
Overall, the design of Tive Inc.'s office moves away from the traditional office model, instead embracing elements of hospitality. The use of wood, planting, ethnographic details, and a hospitality-focused program contribute to a space that feels more like a home than a conventional workplace.
